Hardware Problems and Queries
I cannot set my screen resolution above 640x480 or 4-bit. I did all
of the steps recommended pertaining to the driver, but it says it is on the
best setting for current driver. When I try to roll back the driver, it says
that there are no drivers backed up to roll back to. How can I resolve this?
This problem you are having is usually resolved by rolling back the driver but in your case this doesn't seem to have worked.
If you have not already the first thing I would try is to update the driver to the latest version. For this follow these instructions ;
- Right-Click on My Computer
- Select 'Manage' from the list
- Select 'Device Manager'
- Then go to 'Display Adapters' and then double-click on the graphics card
- Then go to the 'Driver' tab and select 'Update Driver' and follow the steps.
If this fails to work then you should Uninstall the Driver for the graphics card.
To do this follow the same steps as above but select 'Uninstall Driver' instead of 'Update Driver'.
This often sounds drastic but once you restart your machine Windows should switch to the default driver and then it should be ok. Once you have done this try and update the driver once again.
